Hazel Raison ~ Textile Artist & Indie Dyer
I am an independent dyer living in Yorkshire, with my husband and two daughters. I have been dyeing for a number of years now and, whilst my main focus is on dyeing yarn, I do also work with fibre and fabric. Unlike many Indie Dyers I do not keep a set of colourways, preferring to dye according to my mood and inspiration at each dyeing session. My yarn can be bought via Etsy by clicking the link on the right or the Shop link above. You might notice there are no custom slots listed. This is because, with two small children, I do not have allotted times for dyeing and will only take on customs when I know I can commit to a deadine. I use a variety of dyes with the bulk of my work using acid or procion mx dyes. I also use a variety of techniques, with one of my favourites being slow cooker dyeing to create random (and sometimes unexpected!) results. I also enjoy handpainting yarns & fibres.
As well as dyeing I also crochet, felt, quilt, sew & make jewellery. I offer tuition in dyeing, crochet and felted beads & bracelets. Currently all workshops are held at RiversMEET Craft Cafe in Methley (see Workshops page for more details).
